High-level golf tournament XXVII Niitvälja Karikas begins on Friday!

The oldest golf competition in the Baltic States, Niitvälja Karikas, takes place for the 27th time this year. The 54-hole stroke play competition is held on June 28th–30th on Niitvälja Golf’s Park Course, the home of Estonian golf. The competition offers R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking points.

The three-day tournament will host 126 players, consisting of both professionals and amateurs. Representing seven different countries, the players’ level is extremely high. 38 of them have a handicap of less than 5, eleven players are at zero or below. This year’s professional prize pool of € 5,000 is pursued e.g. by Eetu Isometsä, the winner of men’s amateur count in 2018. Peter Gustafsson, a former European Tour player and a double winner of Niitvälja Karikas, is also competing for the prize. Estonia is represented by two experienced professionals, Mark Suursalu and Sander Aadusaar from Niitvälja Golf Club.

In the amateur count, the elite of Estonian amateur golf – Mattias Varjun, Carl Enn Hellat, Timo Raukas, Markus Varjun, Joonas Juan Turba – are  ready to fight for the highest rankings. Estonian’s best female amateur Annika Koitmaa is present playing in the ladies’ count. The amateur count will host 119 players in total. The winner has the chance to write their name in history – it will be engraved on the most admired golf trophy in Estonia.

The first round of Niitvälja Karikas starts on June 28th at 8.00 a.m. Live scores can be found on the Niitvälja Golf website. The prize distribution and closing ceremony on June 30th will start approximately at 5.00 p.m.
